Enemies of the Constitution

As our colleague Leonard Zeskind at Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights observes, the Tea Party movement at its core is a movement against the U.S. Constitution, in particular the Fourteenth Amendment (citizenship, due process and equal protection under the law), Fifteenth Amendment (prohibition against denial of right to vote based on race) and Seventeenth Amendment (election of U.S. Senators by popular vote). When we attended militia gatherings in the 1990s to see what these Constitutionalists were all about, they all carried pocket versions of the U.S. Constitution with these amendments removed.
